As I mentioned before, I had the opportunity to try out ClassPass for a month when they first came to Orlando. ClassPass is a monthly membership to the best boutique fitness classes in your city. There are thousands of classes available to ClassPass members, including cycling, pilates, yoga, strength training, dance, martial arts, and more.
During my month trial I tried out classes at three different locations. The Bar Method Winter Park was BY FAR my favorite. Although I love yoga and will always do it, The Bar Method was just amazing to me. I used all three of my classes there (you can go to each location three times per month with ClassPass) and was itching to go back!
I wasn’t sure what I was going to think about it in the beginning, but it was the first class other than yoga that I left thinking “I HAVE to do that again!” I went to Bar Basics at The Bar Method Winter Park for my first two classes. I was warned that this class might be a little tough and they weren’t kidding. But it was awesome! It worked every muscle and I left the class feeling energized.
There are a lot of classes that I can’t take because of my hip and knee problems, but in this class I was able to do everything during the hour long class. I came home sore, but I knew it was going to turn into that “good” kind of sore. I hate using weight machines at the gym and I think this class would be a great way to build and tone muscle. Within an hour of getting home from class I signed up to go back again next week.
For my third class at The Bar Method Winter Park I went to the Friday evening Mixed Level class with Mimi. The class starts at 5:00 pm so I was able to go there straight from work which was great. I thought it was the perfect way to end the week and start the weekend. This class was A LOT harder than the Bar Basics class, but I loved every minute of it. This third class was really what sold me on The Bar Method. The teachers are so encouraging, nice, and help you make sure that you are doing everything right without making you feel like a big dummy.
After my ClassPass trial ran out I decided that I was going to treat myself to a month at The Bar Method. They have a New Client special that is just $69 for a month of unlimited classes. After that it goes up to $135 a month. I’m not sure that I can stomach that monthly cost, but I think I can swing $69 for a month of killer workouts. Even though I had gone there with ClassPass I was still eligible for the New Client special which made me really happy.
As a runner I haven’t tried a lot of different exercise options. Cross-training to me is going to Yoga for Runners once a week. I just hadn’t found something I liked and wasn’t really trying hard to find it either. Thanks to ClassPass I was able to find something else that is good for me that I LOVE. So for all of you out there not cross-training because you don’t know what else to do, I suggest you step out of your comfort zone and try something new. ClassPass offers a week trial for just $10 that you gets you unlimited access to class. So at the very least you could try a different class/location every day for a week. For $10 you might just find your cross-training happy place 🙂
