Melissa’s Race to Battle Brain Cancer is SO much more than another 5K. This event is a FUNDRAISER benefiting FLORIDA HOSPITAL CANCER INSTITUTE for brain cancer research. It’s also a fun, challenging, and certified chip-timed 5K run and walk, located at Fort Mellon Park on the scenic shore of Lake Monroe in Sanford. This event is in memory of Melissa Vosburg, a resident of Sanford and teacher at Midway Elementary School, who was lost to brain cancer in 2013.
This chip-timed race is great for beginners or those looking to perhaps achieve a PR. We have special youth pricing and opportunities to earn prizes for fundraising, as an individual and as teams. This year the race has a new starting point and race course to enjoy.
I’ve participated in this race in the past and it is a lot of fun. They even have a post-race party at Deviant Wolfe Brewing. They are opening at 10 AM and 10% of Melissa’s Race participant’s purchases will be donated to Melissa’s Race. Just mention you ran the race, and drink for a good cause!
