This Friday I head to Savannah, GA with my friend for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marthon & 5k. I always make a list of the things I need to pack, since I can be quite forgetful, so today I thought I would share my top 3 things to pack for a runcation.
You always want to make sure to protect your eyes during a race and the surrounding race weekend. I must admit that in the past I’ve been REALLY bad about this because I couldn’t find running sunnies that worked for me. Until now! I had heard about Goodr glasses for awhile but finally decided to take the plunge and buy myself a pair when we were in Jekyll Island in January.
I LOVE THEM! The stay put, come in lots of fun colors, have awesome names, and are only $25 a pair. I’ve never been a person that spends a lot of money on sunglasses because I KNOW I will drop them or lose them or something. But at $25 a pair you can afford to have a couple of pairs of Goodr glasses.
2. Comfy clothes
In addition to needing a super comfy outfit for the race, you also have to make sure to pack comfy clothes for the rest of the weekend. If you are anything like me and my friends, even thought you just ran a race you will spend the rest of the weekend walking around and enjoying the town you are in.
I always pack a stash of my 73Threads running themed shirts. I love them! Great colors, super soft and comfy, and they come with some great sayings. They even have shirts for yoga, TRI folks, and even your family members. Yes I am an ambassador for 73Threads, but I love these shirts and the company long before I was an ambassador. But hey, this also means that YOU get a discount. Use code meghanonthemove to save 10% on your next order.
3. Comfy shoes
This may be a given for some people, but I know a lot of folks that focus so hard on making sure that they don’t forget their running shoes that the end up forgetting shoes for the rest of the weekend. You are only going to be gone a couple of days, so try not to be Carrie when you are packing your shoes. I usually bring my running shoes, a pair of sandals or flops, and a pair of sneakers. And ifs its going to be cold I just skip the sandals all together.
This weekend I have a brand new pair of ON shoes to keep my feet happy before and after the race. I wear a stability shoe for running, so since these are a neutral shoe they work out great for everyday wear. These Cloudflow shoes really are liking walking on a cloud! I know they will be perfect for all the miles we plan to walk over the rest of the weekend.
Ready to try ON for yourself? If you are going to be in Savannah for the race like we are, ON apparel and shoes are available exclusively Fleet Feet Sports Savannah – so be sure to check them out at 3405 Waters Avenue when you arrive in town for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon! There will also be ON products at the Fleet Feet Booth at the Fashion Fitness Expo on Friday, April 6 from 11AM – 7PM (DeSoto Hotel Savannah, 15 East Liberty Street), so be sure to check them out when you pick up your packet this weekend!
So there you have it – my top 3 things to pack for a racecation weekend. What are you go to items to pack for a racecation?
*Disclosure: I am a 73threads ambassador and a Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon ambassador, so some of the items mentioned in this post I received for free or at a discount. But as always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
