I have loved the Meet + Make events that I’ve attended in the past and this past one was no exception. What is Meet + Make you ask? Its a craft night hosted by Sarah Hearts at our local West Elm store. Yes, you craft in the middle of the store on tables that cost more than I make in a month. There are tasty treats, killer goodie bags, and a fun craft project to work on with friends.
This past Meet + Make was special to me because Baking is our Jam was one of the sponsors, so everyone took home some red sprinkles in their goodie bags. It was fun seeing everyone pull them out of the bags along with all the other fun goodies.
As always Sarah out did herself with handmade treats. I made the mistake of showing up hungry and ended up with QUITE the sugar buzz by the end of the evening. Thankfully I had a little bit of spiked eggnog to even things out 🙂
This time we did hand painted platters. Sarah started us off with a couple of examples, stencils, and paint and we were set on our own to create something fun. I loved her monogrammed example and decided to go with that. The stencils made it very easy to create a platter that I absolutely loved. All that is left now is to throw it in the oven to make the platter safe to eat off of. I really just want to display it on a plate stand in my kitchen because its super cute!
I love these events because it gives me a chance to craft with friends (which I don’t do nearly enough), see other crafty locals, and eat my weight in cookies. The fact that its in the middle of a beautiful store isn’t so bad either. They extend a 10% discount to us when we are there for the event and it was hard not to buy everything in sight. I’m a sucker for Christmas decorations and they sure had some cute ones.
Thanks again to Sarah Hearts and West Elm for a great event! I can’t wait until the next event in the new year. I hear its going to be near Valentine’s Day and I can’t wait to see what super cute project Sarah comes up with.
