Local friends have been asking me a lot lately if I’d checked out Bake Me A Cake in the Altamonte Mall. I used to live closer to that mall, but now that I don’t I just haven’t had a chance to check it out. So yester when Kelly and I planned to spend the afternoon shopping I thought it was the perfect chance to check them out.
Bake Me A Cake is in the center of the mall next to a DQ/Orange Julius and a Mrs Fields. Just seems wrong huh? But they were holding there own when we arrived. They have a lot of mini cupcake, but not a huge selection of regular sized cupcakes. I don’t know if it was because we were there on a Saturday afternoon, or if that is usually the case.
So since you can get 6 mini cupcakes for $6.95 I thought I’d go ahead and check out a couple. The six we decided on were peanut butter, lemon, strawberry, german chocolate, red velvet and oreo. I ate the peanut butter one right there before we left the mall. It was yellow cake with a peanut butter/chocolate frosting and a mini peanut butter cup. It was quite tasty, but I really could have gone for a few more bites.
Part of me wishes that I’d gone with just 1 or 2 of the regular sized cupcakes. Maybe it was just the mini-ness of them that was throwing me off. I’m not going to rule them out of the Orlando area cupcake race, but I definitely want to give their full-sized treats a try.
