I survived week 3 of training!
Week 3 didn’t start until Wednesday of last week, but I still got it done. I got up early Wednesday morning so that I could run before work. It was hot and humid, but I got it done. I extended my run intervals by 10 seconds each and instead of things getting slower they got faster! I got another “Fastest Mile” achievement from Garmin and was happy to see that between week 1 and week 3 I’d improved by 17 seconds. I was a very happy Meghan!
Unfortunately my sleep Wednesday night was TERRIBLE and I didn’t end up getting up early to do my run before work. So I threw an extra set of running clothes in my suitcase and crossed my fingers that I would get my workouts done while at my mom’s house. When my alarm went off Friday morning I hopped out of bed and hit the ground running (literally). It is always at least 5 degrees cooler at my mom’s house since she is closer to the coast and there was a little bit of a breeze, so I had a great run. I even got another one of those fabulous Fastest Mile” achievements from Garmin.
I wanted to sleep in at least one day while I was there, so I decided to do my “long run” on Sunday. I was taking a chance as I knew I would be up late on Saturday watching the Gators play, but it was worth the chance. Sunday morning I was up early and out the door for my run. The temp was still a bit cooler and the breeze was still there, but holy heck the humidity was a killer. I was definitely questioning my decision to train in the summer by the end of the run. It definitely wasn’t my best run of the week, but I got it done and that is what really matters.
I’m still kind of in shock that I’ve made it through three weeks of my training and haven’t missed a run. I’m probably jinxing myself by saying this, but I think it is pretty great. This upcoming week is pretty void of extra curricular activities, so hopefully that means that my runs will go as scheduled. With this weekend being a holiday weekend I definitely want to keep things on track!
