Last month I did a post about the new Gone for a Run virtual race series and how I was invited to try out the All 4 Run 4 Miler. I was very excited when I got my virtual packet in the mail that included a race tank, race bib, magnet, and medal. Cool huh? I loved that it came with a REAL race bib instead of the “print it yourself” ones that are usually included with virtual races. I display all my race bibs along with my medals, so I love that I can add this one to my collection.
According to their website, over 900 runners from around the globe beat the heat to conquer 4 miles to celebrate our great nation and make their fourth virtual race an overwhelming success! I set out the morning of July 5th to cover 4 miles with my bestie Karen. We both happened to be visiting family about 20 minutes away from each other so we decided to get together and try to beat the heat.
Man alive it was hot! We kept to my mom’s neighborhood and took things nice and slow. When we first started at 7:30 am it was only 74, but with 91% humidity it got hot and sticky REALLY fast. Why do I live here again? Days like this one remind me why I keep a gym membership in the summertime. Thankfully the promise of a shiny metal and brunch with two of my favorite ladies kept me going!
I don’t usually wear race shirts until AFTER a race, but this tank was too cute and festive not to! It fit perfectly and was super soft. Even though i’m not a huge fan of cotton when it comes to shirts for running, the fact that this super soft top was a tank more than made up for it.
I must admit that our run was shy of 4 miles, but we still gave it our all and made the best of it. This virtual race did just what I needed and gave me the kick in the butt that I needed. I actually headed out the next day on my own to round out the 4 miles. You can’t have a medal for a race you didn’t complete right?
Their next virtual race is the Road Shark Run Virtual 5 Mile Race which was available for purchase right at the start of “Shark Week” on the Discovery channel. I love the logo and the medal. Living in Florida where there has been a LOT of shark talk lately, I like the idea of sticking to the road where the only sharks you will find are on shirts and medals.
Thanks to Gone For a Run for inviting me to join in the fun! I’ll definitely be adding another virtual race to the calendar this year.
*Disclosure: I was given a free virtual race packet by Gone For a Run in exchange for a review. As always, my thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
