A lot of people cringe when the Valentine’s Day stuff starts showing up in stores. I think this year it was starting to sneak out before New Years had even come and gone. If you are single it just enhances the hatred of the dreaded pink and red holiday. Fortunately I see Valentine’s Day a little differently. Valentine’s Day isn’t about being in love or having a significant other, it is about LOVE and showing those around you that you love them. It can be family, friends, your best gal-pal, or even your pets.
So this year I’m going I’m going to focus on what some people are starting to call Palentine’s/Galentine’s Day – the day for showing your friends that you love them. Here’s a list of fun ideas that involve dates, fancy dinners, overpriced flowers, or a significant other.
1. Run 4 Love 4 Miler
Instead of spending your weekend overindulging, how about starting it with a 4 mile race? Even if you plan to overindulge for Palentine’s Day you can at least get the weekend off to a healthy start. This year Track Shack is hosting their first annual Run 4 Love 4 mile race. Single? Married? It’s complicated? This event is for everyone that has found the love of running and walking and for those just starting to look for it! Bring your loves and experience the euphoria of a healthy lifestyle.
2. Cupcakes from Cupping Cakes
Want to spoil your gal pals with some amazing treats? If you are in the Tampa/St. Pete area then you are in luck. Cupping Cakes is offering an amazing Valentine’s Day special this year. Get your bestie the Sultry Sangria –
Chocolate cake, sangria buttercream and a Viktoria Richards artisanal chocolate piece on top. All packaged in a clear and gold cupcake box with pink ribbon. Need treats for the whole gang? Check out their special holiday flavors available in 6 or 12 packs – Chocolate Covered Cherry, Red Velvet, and Down the Rocky Road.
* If you aren’t lucky enough to be local to Cupping Cakes make sure to check out your local cupcake shop and see what specials they might be offering.
3. Palentine’s Crafts
Paper Source was right on the money when they sent on an email full of crafty and super fun ideas for Palentine’s Day. How about Manis with your Mates, Brunch with Your Baes, or Fitness with Your Friends?! Make sure to check out their site for fun craft projects and super cute gift ideas.
4. Galentine’s Day at Redlight Redlight
A local beer join in town has been hosting Galentine’s Day, on the day before Valentine’s Day, for 4 years now. The 3 hour event includes $2 off glasses of wine and champagne, Buttermilk Bakery serving sweet and savory treats, and some of their favorite female vendors selling their goodies. I will be heading there myself this year with some of my favorite ladies to celebrate and indulge in some bubbly.
5. Girls Day out at Just Blow It
Blowout bars have finally made it to Florida! Last week I was able to try out one, Just Blow It, for the very first time. I really didn’t understand the draw of these places until I walked in and took a seat. Just Blow It is the kind of place where you feel right at home for the minute you walk in. The front of the shop is a little boutique with super cute items, they offer you wine and cupcakes, and the place is just super cute. Add in a staff that is super friend and love what they do and you will never want to leave! Treat yourself, or your pals, to a blowout and makeup before heading to dinner. Or just buy yourself a blowout package and call it a day. Whatever you decide on, make sure to check them out!
So there ya have it – some super fun ideas for how to spend your Palentine’s/Galentine’s Day this year! What will YOU be doing this year?
