New Orlando Favorite – Fulton’s Crab House

I will be the first to admit that I can give you a laundry list of reasons why I haven’t eaten at many of the restaurant’s on the Walt Disney World property. Traffic, its a tourist area, too expensive, too many people… need I go on? But this year I’ve been trying to step out of my Altamonte Springs box and try new places, even if they are at the Mouse House.

Last month I was lucky enough to attend a special reception at Fulton’s Crab House at Downtown Disney with the Central Florida Lady Bloggers. Fulton’s treated us to an AMAZING evening!

Docked on the wharf at The Landing, this authentic replica of a turn-of-the-20th-century riverboat offers over 50 types of fresh seafood flown in daily, plus the choicest cuts of beef. The award-winning chefs change the menu each day to reflect the best offerings on the world market, which may include Alaska snow crab, Maine lobster and Pacific Rim blue crab cakes—as well as filet mignon and baby back ribs. Dine outside on one of the decks or inside one of several themed rooms displaying trophies, constellations, maps and other nautical artifacts and folk art.

Our group was on the third deck of the riverboat which is the area that they use for private events and dinners. We were able to try cold dishes, hot dishes, 3 desserts, and their amazing mojitos. There was something for everyone! I love seafood, so I tried everything. What was “everything” you ask? King crab legs, deviled eggs with caviar, ahi tuna lettuce wraps, oysters, crab ceviche, shrimp cocktail, jambalaya, shrimp scampi, and crab cakes. Everything was delicious! If I had to pick a favorite I’m not sure that I could.

One of the best parts of the evening was that they executive chef, Mark Moor, spent the evening with us. He answered questions, told us all about the food, and even introduced some ladies to the magic of raw oysters. Wanna know how to get a room full of bloggers out of their seats? Show them how to make oyster shooters!

If you haven’t tried Fulton’s Crab House yet, I suggest that you give it a try. If you have the same list of reasons why you SHOULDN’T go, please toss that list out – at least for a day so you can check them out. Yes it is a little pricey, but I could this as a special event restaurant for those times when you want to treat yourself (or someone else). Just go ok?

*Disclosure: The event I attended included complimentary food and drinks. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
