Earlier this summer I was introduced the wonderfulness that is Meet + Make put on by the fabulous Sarah Hearts. What is Meet + Make? Well it is tasty treats, yummy drinks, and 50+ ladies doing crafty projects… in the middle of a West Elm store. How cool is that?
Sarah’s events fill up fast and after attending my first one in July I knew that I had to be there again this time. I went with 5 of my friends and we had a blast. This is a great event for people who don’t really think they are “crafty.” Sarah gives you enough instruction to get started, but you still have the freedom to create whatever you want. It really was amazing to see how different everyone’s projects turned out.
Each attendee painted a doormat for their home using a “modern fall paint palette of mustard, deep teal, cream and dark gray.” Since we were painting fairly large doormats it meant that we were a bit more spread out this time. People were sitting at tables, standing at tables, sitting on the floor, and even working outside. Since we were painting and things needed a chance to dry it gave everyone the opportunity to walk around. We were able to visit with friends, check out the other doormats, and make new friends.
One of the neatest things about these events is the goodie bags – and its not just cause its fun stuff to take home. All of the items come from small independent shops and some of them were even local. Two of the items were created by ladies who were at the event. You would not believe how many crafty ladies are in Orlando!
I love being able to get together with my friends and get our hands dirty. Sarah is already planning her next event and I’m already planning to attend. I wonder what we will be making next time?
Thanks to Sarah and all her wonderful sponsors for a fun filled evening. If you are interested in joining us next time, make sure to sign up for her mailing list. I’m not kidding when I say that these things fill up fast!
Thanks for sharing such an awesome recap! xo
