I REACHED MY FUNDRAISING GOAL FOR TEAM CHALLENGE!
I am so beyond excited and grateful! Thanks to the amazing support from my friends, family, friends of my family, and local businesses I was able to reach my fundraising goal with 6 weeks to go!
When I received the donation that brought me to my goal I lost it. Granted, it doesn’t take much for me to cry, but I was just so incredibly touched. Just thinking about it now makes me all weepy. Even though sometimes my family drives me nuts, they really do pull together to support me. When I ran the numbers this week I figured out that donations from my family (and one of their employers) made up 68% of my donations. SIXTY EIGHT PERCENT! That is just insane!
Being a part of Team Challenge has been an amazing experience so far. I love running and I love running races, but being a part of Team Challenge just makes it so special. Knowing that I raised $4,500 to support a foundation that works towards finding a cure for Crohn’s and Colitis is just an amazing feeling. Knowing that I’ll be running 13.1 miles in Napa Valley in support of the CCFA. I love training with my team and the support that comes with it. There are plenty of Saturday mornings when I really don’t want to get up at 5:30 am to go run in the insano Florida heat, but knowing that my team is out there waiting for me gets me up and moving.
Half of our team was in Chicago this past weekend for the Chicago Half Marathon and they had a blast. Seeing all the posts and pictures on Facebook made me even more excited for our race next month in Napa. And then the day after their race I met my goal. It was a pretty amazing weekend!
Now that I’ve reached my fundraising goal I can “relax” and just focus on my training for the next 5 weeks. How is the race only 5 weeks away? It seems like just yesterday that I was signing up for Team Challenge and thinking about how the race was 5 months away and now it is just 5 short weeks away. I can’t wait!
