Maybe it’s a special recipe, buying ingredients, mixing, seasoning, tasting, baking, cooking, stirring, smelling, and finally tasting. Maybe it’s appreciating the efforts of others and their culinary talents. Festive food is so much more than nutrition for the body, it makes life taste better.
Food around the holidays always makes me smile. It might be because it’s something we only have on a holiday. Or maybe it’s something that reminds me of a certain family member. And the cooking and baking! I love spending time in the kitchen with my mom. Last Christmas was not the best one for me. I didn’t decorate, I didn’t enjoy shopping, and I just wasn’t into it. I just wanted to stay in bed and hide under the covers. But 2 days before Christmas my mom and I decided to make sugar cookies. So we spent the evening drinking wine, baking cookies, and talking. It was a wonderful night and reminded me what Christmas was really about – family.
