Today starts my “official” training for my next 1/2 marathon which is on December 7th. I’m going to try a training plan once again because I need the motivation to get back on track and stay there. I’m doing the “Finish a Race” 1/2 marathon training offered online by Nike Running – Race Coach. It starts out pretty light which is just what I need to get myself moving again.
On the schedule for this week? Just 2.5 miles.
I know that sounds pretty pathetic, but I took a much longer break from running after my last 1/2 marathon than I had originally planned. Other than the 5k race I did in mid-August I haven’t done a whole lot of running. I thought about doing the next level up training plan, but when I looked at the miles for the first couple of weeks I knew I wouldn’t last long. The whole point is to stay on track. And if I have to start the training with more miles than I’m prepared for then that isn’t going to happen. I know I can do it, I just need to get myself back there.
So I will do my 2 days of running this week and hopefully fit in some other forms of exercise (like yoga or the bike) on the other days. I have a pretty busy week this week so starting off light is probably a great idea. I’m actually excited about running this week 🙂
