When I found out the next Yelp EliteĀ event would be grilled cheese, beer, AND pie I was just over the moon. I love grilled cheese and I REALLY love grilled cheese from Toasted. I’m not a huge beer drinker, so I was happy to be able to try a few new ones without having to commit to a whole pint. And pie, well… its pie man.
The event was hosted at Redlight Red Light, which is a super cool beer bar in an old AC repaid warehouse. They have tons of beer on tap and even more in the bottle. I’d heard great things about this place and was excited to check it out. The grilled cheese sandwiches were from Toasted and created especially for this event to compliment the beers that were being served. The icing on the cake (or pie) was dessert from P is for Pie, a bake shop just two doors down from Redlight Red Light.
There were 5 grilled cheese and beer pairings along with the pie and cider pairing for dessert. I ended up trying all the grilled cheese pairings but one (it had brisket in it and I don’t do brisket) and the pie and cider pairing. So much deliciousness in one event!
Here is what we enjoyed:
My favorite grilled cheese was the gouda, brats and sauerkraut followed closely by the pimento, kimchi, pineapple & habanero salsa. Both were so yummy! I love all the sandwiches I tried, but these were by far my favorites.
As far as the beer goes, I really enjoyed the Cigar City Hard Cider (it was mango!). I also enjoyed the Cigar City Maduro. I don’t usually like dark beers, but this one was pretty darn tasty.
Being able to finish off the night with a tiny hand pie from P is for Pie was just the best!
This was another great event put on by Andi and some great local businesses. What a way to get your name and your product out there. I’d never been to Redlight Red LIght and hadn’t tried P is for Pie yet, so it worked out perfectly. Its fun when all your favorites come together in one location.
Thanks to everyone involved for a great night out!
