Holy crap! Do you know when the last time I ran was? When I did the Flavor Run on January 24th. Almost FOUR weeks ago. That wouldn’t be that bad… if it weren’t for the half marathon I’m running on February 28th. Which is barely a week away!
Man oh man. How did this happen? Honestly, life got in the way. I mean it REALLY got in the way.
Lots of people tell you that you just need to stop making excuses and just run. I agree with that 100%, but sometimes life just doesn’t play along with that. Since the last time I ran there is a laundry list of things that have happened. I left my job, gone to two Yelp events, gone to two blogger events, gone on a cruise, started a new job, my grandma died, helped host a Best Damn Race kick-off party, and I went home for my grandma’s funeral. Wow.
Starting the new job was a TOTAL adjustment as my hours are different and my commute takes me twice as long. Now I leave the house 20 minutes earlier and get home almost an hour later. I can’t write blog posts at work anymore and now I have to do all of that at home. Most days I’ve either had something to do after work or I just don’t want to put on my running shoes and leave again. Damn you comfy couch!
What am I going to do about it you ask? Well, first off I’m getting back into the other forms of exercise that I enjoy. As I mentioned on Monday I have a free one month trial of Class Pass that just started, so I have 2 classes scheduled for this week already (one is tonight). I plan to take advantage of those 28 studios on the Class Pass in order to get myself back in gear and out of my exercise comfort zone. Tonight I’m taking an Aerial Yoga class and I’m terrified. My friends assure me that I won’t die or fall on my head, but we shall see. I promise to report back next week and let you know how it goes.
As far as running goes, I’m hoping the half marathon (Best Damn Race Orlando) will get me back in gear. I have a 15k (with two bridges) and another half marathon in March so I REALLY need to get back to some sort of running schedule. I know I can’t swing any sort of training program so at this point I just want to make sure that I’m running more than I am now. Which really isn’t that hard seeing that I’m not running at all at the moment. Lol.
So there ya have it, Meghan’s plan to getting back on track!
What do you do when your exercise/running routine gets all out of whack?
I’m interested to hear about your experience with aerial yoga. 🙂 At which studio are you taking it?
You’ve had a lot going on in your life recently, try not to be too hard on yourself. Once you settle into your new job it will be much easier to make running part of your regular routine. 🙂
I’m taking it at Allure Dance! I’m excited, but terrified at the same time. I’m certain I’m going to land on my head!
I am so excited to hear about your Class Pass experiences!
When life gets in the way, I just get right back out there. It’s hard, but the longer I wait, the harder it is to get back into the swing of things and I dread that almost more than finding a way to squeeze more hours out of my days.
I am so sorry for your loss 🙁
Thanks hun! I’m hoping my Aerial Yoga class tonight (which is f’n crazy I might add) will help get me going again. Oh, and I get to see you next weekend 🙂
