I had to get out of the house today, I just had to. I’ve pretty much stayed in all week and I was going a bit stir crazy. I texted Danielle to see if she wanted to get lunch (I had a BOGO coupon for Qdoba) and decided to hit up all the thift stores along the way. BUT, I was only allowed to spend the cash I had in my wallet… which was just around $7. I am happy to report that I made 4 purchases at 4 different stores and I still have about $2.50 left in my wallet.
The main thing I was looking for was zippers. I have a couple craft projects I want to do that involve zippers, but I didn’t want to go to the store and pay full price. So I thought I’d hit up the thrift stores and see what I could find. Imagine my surprise and enjoyment when I found a bag of zippers at the first store I stopped at! For 75 cents! And some of them even had metal teeth! I was on happy Meghan 🙂 There were 12 zippers in about 3 different sizes in all different colors.
I visited two Habitat ReStores today. They are pretty awesome! Not only do they have a LOT of furniture, they also have things to work on your house…. lighting fixtures, plumbing supplies, tools, etc. But keep in mind that they do not have clothes/shoes/accessories. They do have homewares, linens, childrens items, and lots and lots of furniture. I found a dining room cabinet/hutch that I would LOVE (and it would actually fit in my small apartment), but until I have a job it’s going to have to stay at the store. Keep your fingers crossed that it’s still there when I go back.
I also picked up this awesome vintage bamboo Silver Springs tray for 50 cents, a fantastic (most likely vintage) orange & yellow martini glass for 69 cents, and a FABULOUS black Victoria’s Secret slip (to go with my black vintage lace dress) for $2.49.
Such great finds! You have such good luck thrifting! Hopefully your luck rubs off on me next weekend!
I hope so too! I’m looking forward to hitting up our favorite spots and maybe a few new ones 🙂
That bag of zippers — pure gold! I wonder where you found it in the thrift store. What “department” do that stash that in? I’ve never thought to look but totally will next time!
In some thrift stores they tend to have a TINY “craft” section in with the housewares. It’s usually small and there isn’t anything worthwhile, but this store had a good one. I’ve also seen them need sheets as well. This particular store had fabric with the sheets. Hope this helps Krista!
