The NEW Tony Roma’s Fire Grill & Lounge

You may remember that back in November I went to a CMYE (Community Manager Yelp Event) at Tony Roma’s restaurant. We were the first lucky group to try out items from their new menu that they were going to be rolling out to their stores. The food was amazing and we had a great time! During our event we were told that the other Tony Roma’s in town was getting a complete physical makeover and when they reopened in December they would have the new menu. Once that location had reopened they would be closing the location we were at to do the same thing. So when I was invited to check out the new and improved Tony Roma’s location I jumped at the chance!

Tony Roma’s is now Tony Roma’s Fire Grill & Lounge!

The entire restaurant got a face lift and I was quite impressed with what they did to the place. I remember what the old restaurant used to look like and I have to admit that I like this one a lot better. Welcome to the cool kids table Tony Roma’s!

Our group was seated at two long tables in the bar area (it usually is just a bunch of smaller 4 top tables) and we were offered drinks as soon as we walked in. The alcoholic drinks available for the evening were the Swindler, a Wood Aged Margarita, and Sam Adams cold snap. I had the Wood Aged Margarita at the Yelp! event so I decided to go with the Swindler. What is in a Swindler you ask? Fireball whiskey, apple moonshine, and sour mix. This drink was AMAZING! I got to chatting with Drew, who is responsible for the new drink menu, and he told me that they use no pre-made drink mixes in any of their drinks. No wonder they taste so good!

Over the next two hours Bob Gallagher, Vice President of Culinary and Purchasing and the man behind the new menu, walked us through 9 dishes (appetizers, salad, sides, and entrees) and 2 desserts. It was amazing! We got to try a few things that we didn’t during the Yelp! event, so that made me happy. What did we try? Well let me show you!

Smokehouse Wings, Ovenbaked Pizza Dip, Box-O-Onions, Cornbread with maple butter and jalapeno jam, Popover rolls, Chop Salad with Crispy Shrimp, Baked Mac & Cheese, Brussels Sprouts, Smoked Baby Back Ribs with shoestring fries and cole slaw, Potato Crusted Cod, KC Strip, Home style Cheesecake with fresh berries, AND Chocolate Mayhem!

Being a team player I tried everything that was brought out except for the KC strip, and that was only because I don’t eat steak. I know, I know – I’m a weirdo for not eating steak!

My favorite thing that we tried was the Ovenbaked Pizza Dip. Chef Bob told us how he wanted to have pizza on the menu, but wanted to do something different. So he came up with this deconstructed pizza dip. It was AMAZING! It is served with garlic croutons and I’m pretty sure I could have eaten the whole thing myself. It was definitely a favorite among the folks at our table.

Between the awesome staff, the great food on the new menu, and the yummy drinks I would DEFINITELY suggest trying out the new Tony Roma’s Fire Grill & Lounge. The location we went to is out by the Orlando airport and soon they will be redoing the I-Drive location as well. But the thing that makes this girl the happiest is the news that they will be building a new one in Winter Park, which is WAY closer to home. This could be very very dangerous.

**A great big thank you to Tony Roma’s and Sunshine Baker for the invitation to this great event!
