Week 5 wasn’t the stellar week that I had hoped for. It started off with and impending Hurricane and ended with me not wanting to even get out of bed. Sounds great right?
My first run of the week was on the day that we were supposed to get the worst weather from Hurricane Dorian. I got up early hoping that I’d be able to get my run in before the rain and wind started. That wasn’t the case (it started raining about half a block after I left my house) but I ended up not minding at all. Because of the rain and the wind that had started up, it was actually a pretty pleasant run.
Unfortunately the night before my next scheduled run was a rough one. I was having a lot of pain related to my back and hips, so I didn’t get much sleep at all. When my alarm went off for my run I was so tired and still in so much pain that I just went back to sleep. I had plans that night and the next day that kiept me from being able to complete my run. Bummer.
But I got up Sunday morning and ran even though it was the very last thing I wanted to do. When my alarm went off I turned it off and laid in bed thinking about how I should just roll over and go back to sleep. As I laid there I could hear my friend Jenn and how she’d be telling me that I should just go run because I was already up. So I listened.
It wasn’t a great run, but at least I got it done. When I got home from my run I sat down and registered for a 5k on Saturday. I plan to make up for that run that I missed! Plus it will be a good test for the 10k I’m doing on the 22nd.
I can’t believe I’m about to start week 6 of running 3 days a week! I know I’m not banking a lot of mileage right now, but its still SO much more than I had been running and that makes me really happy. I’m excited to see how my races go this month!
