I’ve never been one for buying expensive bath or hair products. As long as they did the job and smelled nice, they made their way into the rotation. The only thing I’ve ever really made an effort when purchasing is makeup. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I have sensitive skin so when I do I have to make sure it doesn’t irritate me. You’d think I’d feel the same way about my hair right? Well, I didn’t until my cousin told me about MONAT hair care products.
I hadn’t heard about MONAT until I started to see her posts on Instagram. She does hair and makeup in Hollywood and I figured that if she was talking about how wonderful it was, then it must be pretty awesome. One of my favorite things about the products is that they don’t use a bunch of scary stuff in them that you can’t pronounce and they don’t test on animals. Two big wins in my book.
I know some of you are probably a little leery because you’ve heard that MONAT is a Multi-level marketing (MLM) organization. Well, I will tell you now that my cousin doesn’t sell this stuff because of the money, she sells it because she believes in it. Of course, extra money is nice, but that isn’t why she does it. So I figured it was worth it to give it a chance.
The first thing she sent me that I absolutely love is their dry shampoo, The Champ. The name says it all! Between travel and running, I’ve been looking for a dry shampoo for years and nothing has worked until this. It works wonderfully and smells great. And you can get it in a small size to take with you when you travel (I’m already on my second small bottle).
As they say on their website, “This high-performing little hair hustler will always be your ace in the hole for unbeatable tresses. Even when you are on the go, you can be sure to knock out oil and let your locks shine!”
She also sent me the Smoothing shampoo and conditioner with the hopes that I could get my hair to actually do something. Man alive does this stuff clean! Not only does it get my hair super clean, but it also stays clean longer. I’ve found that I can go longer between washes now which is fabulous.
So this shampoo is not the bubbly kind. You aren’t going to end up with head full of bubbles like they show in some shampoo commercials. Thankfully I knew about this ahead of time, otherwise, I either would have freaked out or used WAY too much. Hooray for a cousin with the inside scoop!
I did notice that the times when I used a LOT of product in my hair (like when I did my hair for a “prom night” event I went to), that it didn’t feel like it was getting all the product out. She sent me the Black Shampoo+Conditioner to add to the rotation.
The Black is a clarifying Shampoo too, so I use it every few washes in between my Smoothing. Now the Black is actually for men’s hair, which is normally shorter, so it is a little harder to run your fingers through while washing but this is normal for many reasons. But the 2 main reasons are because it’s made to clarify and it’s for shorter hair, but is GREAT and it smells minty and has a refreshing after feeling. She also sent me a detangler so help out with the extra bit of tangles after using it. The detangler is actually for kids, but it does a great job. You can use it on wet or dry hair.
I haven’t used the conditioners yet, but I plan to get around to that soon. The weather hasn’t been super cold this winter so I haven’t had much of a need for it.
For Christmas she sent me this awesome travel set, so now I can take my MONAT products with me when I travel. You can bet I won’t be using the cheap stuff they leave in your hotel room ever again!
So by now you may have clicked on one of the links above and you MAY have been a little in shock about the prices, and I get that. I was a little surprised when I first saw them, but then again I usually buy my shampoo at Target. But this product is pretty awesome and to me it is worth the extra money. I mean you are going to have your hair for most of your life, so you might as well take care of it.
If you are interested in checking out the products, feel free to head over to my cousin’s page. They have some programs available that can help lower the costs a little bit. Please please PLEASE don’t feel like I’m trying to push the product or push you to buy from my cousin. I am not getting anything out of this other than the products that she sent me. And if you took a minute to chat with her you would know that what I said above was true. So feel free to check it out, or not.
*Disclosure: As I mentioned above, my cousin sent me these products to try out. I’m not getting any additional incentive to tell you about these, I just happen to have fallen in love with them.
