As you may have gathered from reading my blog, I am way more apt to do something if I have a plan. A mapped out training plan is going to get me out the door WAY before saying to myself “you should run three times this week.” So when Run Eat Repeat’s Pile on the Miles challenge popped up this year I knew I needed to participate. I did really well with my training plan up until my goal race, but then after that life got in the way and I haven’t run much.
Pile on the Miles is a 21 day fitness challenge that runs from November 3-23. Monica provides everything you need to be successful – a calendar/planner, a workout/meal planner, and a goal sheet. I had decided to get up and run this morning since we were going to have some great weather. It worked out perfectly that when I got home from my run this morning all of this was waiting in my inbox for me.
Pile on the Miles was originally a running challenge to run MORE miles in November. But over the years it’s grown and changed, and now the challenge is about setting a goal that is important to YOU and staying accountable to it.
You set your own goal.
You show up and check in every day.
You see results.
Having a hard time coming up with your goals? Monica can help with that too! She has a whole post about setting reasonable goals for yourself. They can be super detailed or very simple – whatever works for you! So what are your goals you ask? My main goal is to run 3 days per week. My mini-goal is to finish my upcoming 5k race in less time than the one I did in September. This may seem kinda lofty considering that I haven’t run much over the last month, but I’ve done it before and I know that I can do it again.
Monica even has a fun photo-a-day challenge to go along with the POTM challenge. I’m not great at these, but I’m definitely going to give it a shot!
I’m excited to see how the next three weeks go and look forward to “checking in” everyday. You can follow along at the hashtag #PileOnTheMiles on Instagram. And the challenge just started yesterday, so you can still sign up if you want to play along.
