Lucky number 13 for this year was the Rock N Roll Las Vegas 5k. When I went to Las Vegas last year I was the only person I knew there that DIDN’T run the 5k, so this year I signed up right away. I was not going to be left out this year!
The 5k starts across from the SLS and is a great kick off party for the weekend of races. We headed down to the start a little early since there was a We Run Social meetup complete with doughnuts. I mean how do you pass up pre-race doughnuts?
I was able to see some of my fellow Rock N Bloggers and get some “holy crap I haven’t seen you since last year!” pictures. We spent some time hanging out with everyone before heading over to the corrals.
I must admit that the 5k course isn’t super interesting. The course is off the strip and this year we had to deal with some road construction along the way. There isn’t a whole lot to look at, but its still a fun race and a good way to get yourself used to this whole running at night thing. I mean, how often do you start a 5k race at 6 pm?
After we collected our medals and beer we headed towards the monorail to head back towards the hotel. Last year things we a bit crazy with the monorail situation (it took FOREVER to get anywhere) and since we were hungry we decided to head out. Thankfully this year they had a whole system in place and in less than 10 minutes we were on the monorail and headed back to our hotel. Time to carb load for race number 14…
