Peterbrooke Chocolate Valentine’s Day Preview Tasting

Last night I had the privilege to attend a Valentine’s Day Preview Tasting at Peterbrooke Chocolate of Winter Park. Anyone who lives in the Orlando area knows about Peterbrooke and all of the wonderful treats they offer. And if you don’t, get your butt over to Park Avenue and check them out! You are missing out here!

The event was held in their kitchen which is entirely glass and can be viewed from outside the store and the main area of the store. Many times during the event I would turn around and see people watching us through the window. You could tell they were thinking “Why do they get to be in there eating all those yummy treats?” I may have, once of twice, turned around and taunted some guests. It was all in good fun I swear!

When we walked in everyone put there name in for a drawing, got a sheet of information about the event, and was handed a glass of champagne – now that is how you start an event. On one table was a display of all the tasty treats we would be trying throughout the night (there were A LOT) and the center table was filled with all sorts of items and baskets that you could get your sweetie for Valentine’s Day (or any day of the year). I was amazed at all of the things they had to offer.

The first order of business for the evening was Kevin Wray, one of the owners, demoing their Truffle Cake kit. It is a SUPER easy cake kit that they sell there in the store. It comes with all the ingredients you need (the non-perishable ones) to make an AMAZING truffle cake. I think even folks who say “I CANNOT bake!” could make this happen. After his demo we all got to try the cake while he was talking about the history of the company. He owns the Winter Park store along with his wife Jami.

Next up Jami talked to us about all the different molded chocolates that they do there. One of the most impressive is the Chocolate Shoos they have available. They can come in any type of chocolate, all different colors, and can even have personalized edible labels in the shoos. These are available year round and would be a perfect gift for your sweetie. I mean what woman doesn’t like shoes AND chocolate?

Did I happen to mention that Quantum Leap Winery co-hosted this event? Well they did! And what goes better with chocolate than wine? Lisa Wilk from Orlando Uncorked told us all about Quantum Leap Winery, which is Orlando’s ONLY winery, and walked us through a couple of wine & chocolate pairings. I don’t even like red wine and I enjoyed this portion of the event a lot. It helped that one of the wine’s, Kaley’s Rescue Red, is named after the owners dog and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the wine goes to the SPCA. How cool is that?

After our wine & chocolate pairings mini-lesson Lisa talked to us about some of the other tasty treats that Peterbrooke offers. We tried Truffle cookies, Sea Salt Dark chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries (OH MY GAWD), and chocolate covered popcorn. I was one happy Meghan by the end of the event!

I’ve always loved Peterbrooke and their chocolates, but I loved learning more about the company and the owners. Kevin & Jami obviously love chocolate and love what they do – it shows when they talk about it and when you see and taste their products. Like I said, if you haven’t been by you need to do yourself a favor and stop in. You won’t regret it!

One thing to keep in mind, all Valentine’s Day pre-orders get a 15% discount if ordered and pain in full by 1/31. That means you can get your sweetie even MORE tasty treats this year! Peterbrooke also offers curbside pick-up and local delivery within the immediate area (or further out for a small fee).

Thank you to Peterbrooke Chocolate of Winter Park, Quantum Leap Winery, Orlando Uncorked, and Sunshine Baker for hosting this amazing event!
