Omni Orlando Belated Birthday Staycation

This year even though I had to work on my birthday I was still able to celebrate a couple weeks later with my bestie at the Omni Orlando at ChampionsGate. We both love the Omni and knew right away it would be the perfect location for a belated birthday staycation.

The weekend of our staycation we headed to the resort around 10:30 in hopes of taking advantage of as much pool time as possible during our stay. It has been raining a LOT here in Florida this summer, so we wanted to have some extra time in case those afternoon storms rolled in. Our room wasn’t ready but the took my cell phone number and said they would text us when the room was ready. We checked our bags at the bellstand and headed out to the pools.

The Omni Orlando has THREE amazing pools – an adult pool with a huge hot tub, a family pool that is zero-entry and has a super fun slide, and an amazing lazy river. The lazy river is our favorite of the three and after securing a couple of chairs poolside we headed over to grab some tubes. Dave was along for the staycation so of course he had to check out the lazy river as well and he totally approved.

We were able to get about 2 hours of pool time in before the rain started. Thankfully our room was ready at this point so we were able to go check in. Our queen room had a beautiful balcony that overlooked the golf course. Since it was lunch time and we had some time to kill we decided to check out the fitness center. I also had 30 minutes on the training schedule for the day, so this gave me a chance to knock that out. We weren’t the only ones that had this idea! The fitness center had a good variety of cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, and even some yoga mats.

After our brief stop at the fitness center we went back to the room and found a fruit platter and bottled water waiting for us. It was a great post-workout snack and was just what we needed to hold us over until dinner. The rain had also cleared up at this point so we put our suits back on and went back to the pools. This time we decided to check out the family pool and slide before getting on the lazy river. I’m a big fan of the slide and Laura was even able to get a pretty fun shot of me coming out of the slide!

We also stopped by Croc’s Pool Bar & Grille for some fruity drinks to take with us on the lazy river. Nothing says relaxation like floating along a lazy river with your bestie and a mango pineapple mojito in your hand.

When the rain rolled in for the second time that afternoon we decided to call it a day and get ready for dinner. After a nice birthday dinner out we came back and relaxed in the room. Gourmet cupcakes in bed, birthday gifts, and a little Food Network was a great end to the day.

Our Sunday morning started off with the Art of Breakfast Buffet at Trevi’s. It was amazing! It included fresh fruits, yogurts, organic and gluten free cereals, bread and butter bar featuring oven baked fresh breads and bakery selections with imported butters and preserves, farm fresh cage free eggs and omelets cooked to order, applewood smoked bacon and natural breakfast sausage, breakfast potatoes, coffee or tea and choice of juice. They even had a grit bar and a honey bar – both of which Laura and I thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast is $25 per person (which includes breakfast and your drinks) and it was totally worth it. They even came around with trays of mimosas, which I definitely enjoyed.

After breakfast we decided to hit up the lazy river one last time before checking out. We were able to get a late check-out time of 1 pm which gave us plenty of time to go to the pool and still head back to the room to shower, change, and pack. I really didn’t want to leave, but it was a great Sunday and staycation. Its really hard to believe that a resort with so many amenities is just 45 minutes from home.
