On Friday I will be heading to Amelia Island for a Runcation with my mom. We will be staying at the beautiful Omni Amelia Island Plantation and on Saturday I will be running the Zooma Florida 1/2 marathon.
First I get to stay here….
And then I get to run with these fun ladies (and a few more)…
I’m one of those people that does a lot of research before going on a trip, even if its just a short weekend runcation. I was doing some research about things in the area when I learned there was an Amelia Farmer’s market on Saturday mornings. I love going to farmer’s markets when traveling because you learn so much more about what the community has to offer. Imagine my surprise when I learned that it is at the Resort Shopping Village AT the Omni Amelia Island where we are staying. How cool is that? If I get back from my race in time I will definitely be dragging my mom over there. And we’ll definitely be checking out the shops on Friday when we arrive.
Another cool thing they have on property is the Heron’s Cove Adventure Golf. Yup, mini golf right there at the resort! This family-friendly miniature golf course named after Amelia Island’s signature bird, the great blue heron, is located underneath a beautiful canopy of live oaks featuring 18 nautically themed holes. So they have a golf course for the adults and a mini golf course for the whole family.
The thing I’m looking forward to most is using one of their outdoor pools as an ice bath after the race. They have two magnificent pools, a splash park, tiered lounge seating for sun-seekers and food & beverage service. Nestled within the pool grounds, two hot tubs and three fire features offer spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. So I’ll definitely have somewhere to warm up if need be! Even though I’ve lived in Florida my whole life I still am shocked at the beautiful beaches we have here.
What would you be most excited about at this resort?
*Disclosure: I am being provided a complimentary stay at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in exchange for a review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
