This year got off to a crappy start for our family with the death of my grandpa, so I wanted to treat my mom to a special weekend away for mother’s day. Thanks to my dad agreeing to watch her dog for the weekend I was able to take my mom to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress for the weekend. It was the perfect place to enjoy the weekend together and get away, without having to really go anyway.
We started our trip on a Friday afternoon. After checking into our room with a view, we headed to Disney Springs for dinner. We had a great time checking out all of the new stores and restaurants that have popped up over the the last year.
The next day the weather wasn’t cooperating, but that didn’t mean we missed out on pool time. After a bit of shopping at the nearby outlets we headed back to the hotel just in time for the sun to come out. Grand Cypress has an amazing pool, a lakefront beach, bicycles and more to keep you occupied. We had just enough time to enjoy the pool before heading to dinner at Hemingway’s.
My first ever visit to the Grand Cypress was for dinner at Hemingway’s. It was amazing! I’ve been back plenty of times since then, but this was my first time being able to take my mom. We started out with some cocktails, and then shared some appetizers so that we had a chance to try more things. My favorite item on the menu is their crab cakes and once again they did not disappoint. As if the amazing food wasn’t enough, there was a wedding going on at the hotel and we ended up with our own private fireworks show. It was a great way to end the night.
On our last day we didn’t really have any plans, so we decided to sleep in and enjoy our room. I love waking up in their big comfy beds with amazing views of the property. It doesn’t matter how many times I stay there, I am still always amazed that such a beautiful and serene property is just around the corner from Disney.
So the next time you want to get away without actually having go to anywhere, take my advice and head out to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. Believe me – you won’t be disappointed.
