Earlier this month I, along with some of my fellow Central Florida Lady Bloggers, had the opportunity to check out the new TR Fire Grill in Winter Park. Those of you locals know that they opened the original TR Fire Grill, a concept started by the fine folks at Tony Roma’s, out near the airport and just recently it was relocated to an amazing new location in Winter Park. I’d been dying to check out their new location and menu, so I was super excited for our blogger event.
Ten of us were treated to a tasting that included some of their most popular cocktails, appetizers, salads, entrees, and of course dessert. We were even joined by their Marketing Manager, Managing Partner, and their CEO. Boy did we feel special!
One of my favorite things about TR Fire Grill, besides their delicious food, is that they source local ingredients whenever possible. They even have a place on their menu where they list the farmers that they are currently getting things from. If they can get it in Florida, they do whenever possible.
During our meal we were able to try so many amazing things – Bacon & Eggs, Prime Rib Egg Rolls, Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Tacos, Cobb Salad, Bibb Salad, Salmon & Zoodles, Bacon Wrapped Smoked Meatloaf, Chicken & Waffles, Seared Cauliflower Steak, and Buttery Seared Lemon Pound Cake. If reading that list didn’t make you drool a little then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with you. I enjoyed everything that I tried but my favorite had to be the Bacon Wrapped Smoked Meatloaf. Meatloaf is a go to comfort food for me and they take it to the next level for sure. The meatloaf is wrapped in bacon, smoked, and then topped with Sam Adams mushroom sauce. Man alive it was good.
The cocktails they serve are spectacular. Their craft cocktails are made with liquors aged in small oak barrels or infused with the flavors of fresh fruit and spices. They handcraft their own mixes and syrups, so everything is always fresh. My favorite cocktail of the evening was the Grilled Daiquiri which is wood grilled pineapple infused Bacardi rum, Scarlett Ibis, pressed lime, and house made simple syrup. Its fresh, light, and the perfect drink for any time of year.
I knew before we even finished our meal that I would definitely be back. This week we finally made a trip back to TR Fire Grill to check out their LOCAL HOUR featuring cocktails made with spirits from the Winter Park Distilling Company. Talk about some local love! Starting February 17, and continuing daily between 3-7pm (12-2pm on Sat) you can check out these awesome concoctions on the TR Fire Grill specialty cocktail menu:
-The Bear Gully Sour (feat. Bear Gully Classic New Make Whiskey); fresh blueberries and lemon zest come together in a legendary blueberry compote that is combined with our smooth white whiskey and house made sour mix.
-The Island of Mischief (feat. Dog Island Silver Rum); TR Fire Grill’s take on the Dark & Stormy with fresh lime juice and Fever Tree ginger beer.
-Wind Song (feat. Genius Vodka); an homage to the beautiful estate on the banks of Lake Virginia, this cocktail combines lime juice, cranberry and a splash of peach schnapps with our smooth vodka for a refreshing combo that has just a hint of sweetness.
We tried all three and they were AMAZING! I think the Bear Gully Sour was my favorite. Since TR Fire Grill makes all their own mixers everything is super fresh. You even get your own personal bottle of the drink to enjoy.
To round out Local Hour we tried the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Shaved Steak Tenderloin Sandwich. The Shaved Steak Sandwich was a 1/2 sandwich with a stack of amazing onion rings for just $7. I got the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Tacos to go along with my Fried Green Tomatoes and had quite the tasty meal for $10. Hour Happy + Local Cocktails + Tasty Bites = Happy Meghan 🙂
So if you are looking for a new local spot to try out, definitely look at TR Fire Grill. Right now we have the only location in the world and that makes us pretty darn lucky!
*Disclosure: TR Fire Grill provided a complimentary tasting meal to the Central Florida Lady Bloggers. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
