Bowigens Beer Company is an American Craft Brewery located in Casselberry, FL and it just so happens to be around the corner from my house. Last month I got the chance to show off this local favorite to some local bloggers that love beer just as much as I do.
A little background about Bowigens? Even though they just opened in 2015, plans for Bowigens started many years and many more beers ago. Long-time friends Kevin Wigen and Bobby Bowen met while playing in bands in the Orlando area. After years in the music scene, the two decided to stop traveling as much and dive into a new adventure. Brewing was a natural choice, as both fell in love with the creative aspect of it.
Bobby moved back to Orlando and started working at a local brewery. After a lot of time learning the ropes, Kevin and Bobby agreed it was time to take the next step. The two began pumping out beers, building equipment and cleaning — lots and lots of cleaning. All the while, perfecting their recipes and planning the next stages of their business.
Three years and a few award-winning beers later, what you see is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication. They love being able to create beers and share them with people. For people who say they just don’t like beer, they say you’re wrong — you just haven’t had the right one yet!
During our visit owner Bobby gave us a personal tour of their brewing facilities, told us all about their back story, and treated us to to a pint. It was so great getting to hear all about their story and love of brewing fabulous beers!
Bowigens is the perfect neighborhood brewery. They are open 7 days a week, have 10 beers on tap (and an additional 20 bottled options), have specials every night, and even though they do not offer food outside of complementary popcorn and pretzels can bring in food from any of the local restaurants. One of my favorite things is to pick up a pizza from Vinzo’s right next store and enjoy it with one of my favorite beers.
New for 2016 they have a Beer Club! The Beer Club runs from January 1st – December 31st 2016 costs just $35. What does it include? 20 oz Beer Club glass with your name on it, On Mondays enjoy 20oz pours in your custom glass for regular price, Bowigens Beer Club T-shirt, Bowigens Car Magnet, 15% off all Merchandise all year long, Official Bowigens Beer Club Member Card, A free beer on your birthday, and an invite to a member only event at Bowigens involving a special release.
