Krispy Kreme’s Stuff the Bus Campaign

Central Floridians can make back-to-school time a little sweeter for local families in need and earn free Krispy Kreme® treats while supporting The Salvation Army’s 2015 “Stuff the Bus” campaign. This unique school supply drive helps local students gear up for a successful academic year by easing the high cost of materials.

“Krispy Kreme is honored to have the opportunity to help hundreds of students make a fun and easy transition back-to-school,” says Jenny Bellanca, vice president of operations for Florida Family Foods LLC. “The timing is perfect as supporters can take advantage of Florida’s extended back-to-school tax holiday, which will run for 10 days from August 7 through 16, to purchase donations.”

As a sweet reward, supporters will receive one FREE Original Glazed® doughnut for a single school supply item donation, and one FREE Original Glazed® dozen for each donation of a backpack that contains school supplies. The supplies will be presented to The Salvation Army and distributed to youth in need through local social service programs.

“We are very excited to be working with Krispy Kreme again this year!” said Major Ted Morris, III, CEO of The Salvation Army – Orlando Area Command. “The Salvation Army has a wonderful relationship with Krispy Kreme right here in Orlando and it is a blessing to have their support. We will be able to help a lot of young children as they prepare to go back to school, and if you ask me, that’s truly wonderful!”

Krispy Kreme's Stuff the Bus Campaign

On the first day of the Stuff the Bus campaign I had the opportunity, along with some fellow bloggers to kick things off in style. I started the evening by depositing my bag of donated school supplies in the Stuff the Bus donation bin. Throughout the evening we learned more about the campaign, learned about Krispy Kreme and their history, and got to try some of their special edition birthday items.

I must admit that I planned for this event to be my “dinner” for the evening. It wasn’t nutritious, but it sure was delicious! We tried the birthday cake batter doughnut, the brownie batter doughnut, and the birthday cake chiller. They all were amazing! If you like chocolate, the brownie batter doughnut is the way to go. It really does taste like a doughnut filled with brownie batter.

So if you have a chance this month, I encourage you to stop by your local Krispy Kreme and make a donation to the Stuff the Bus campaign. If you find some sales, even a few dollars can go a long way towards helping kids get their school year off to a great start.
