Summer is the perfect time for two things – fruit and cocktails! So when I had the bright idea to combine the two I got straight to work. My first step was to make some homemade strawberry vodka.
I cut up almost a full package of strawberries for this recipe. I put the strawberries, a cup of Tito’s Vodka, and a tablespoon of sugar in a glass bottle. Of course I had to use my super cute flamingo bottle for this. I mean, it IS going to be pink when it is done. Once it was all combined I threw it in the fridge for a couple of days.
Once the vodka was ready to go I was trying to think of what cocktail to create. It has been extremely hot this summer, even by Florida standards, so I decided to go with a light and refreshing spritzer. It is easy to make and perfect to enjoy poolside or at a BBQ.
Homemade Strawberry Vodka Spritzer Cocktail Recipe
1 can of Blackberry seltzer water
1-2 oz of homemade strawberry vodka
1/4 cup of strawberries from the strawberry vodka
Fill a tall glass with ice. Add 1-1.5 oz of strawberry vodka. Add full can of blackberry seltzer water. Top with remaining strawberry vodka and 1/4 cup of strawberries. At this point you can either stir it all together, or leave it be so that the pink from the vodka sits on the top of the drink.
*Side Note: Most of the color in the strawberries is replaced by vodka during this process. The strawberries that land in your cocktail are super delicious, but also SUPER strong. So just be careful okay?
If you really want to have a bit of fun with the strawberry theme, serve your cocktail with a strawberry paper straw on a strawberry cocktail napkins. Now your delicious cocktail is also super cute!

That looks really good and super easy to make with the strawberries soaked in vodka (might have some trouble waiting for a few days until the vodka’s ready to go, though).
Ha ha, that’s why I made it right before I left for a couple of days.
