When I started thinking about hosting a Christmas party this year I headed straight to Pinterest to see what theme I’d go with. I finally settled on Mistletoe and Margaritas. I mean who doesn’t want margaritas at Christmas?!
One of the projects I came across was this super cute DIY mistletoe headband. I knew right away that I needed to make one of these to wear at my party. Thankfully between myself and my crafty momma we had most of what I needed to make this happen. I just picked up some pom poms and velvet ribbon, then I was ready to go.
The first step is to make the leaves of the mistletoe. I cut 4 circles from green felt, then cut them each into flower shapes.
Then I cut a small scrap of felt and started attaching the leaves to it with thread. The original post suggested folding the flowers into quarters before stitching them on. That worked out perfectly! It made the leaves look a bit more randomly placed.
Next I sewed on the pom poms to look like the berries on mistletoe. This also helped fill in some of the spaces in between the leaves.
The only headband I had was a bright blue glitter one, which didn’t exactly match. So with the help of my trusty glue gun I covered it in the velvet ribbon I’d bought to make a bow with.
Once the headband was covered I trimmed the base of the mistletoe and glued it to the headband. The last step was to make and add a bow.
In less than 30 minutes I was able to make this project from start to finish. It was fun, easy, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
