Orlando is known nationwide for the selection of theme parks and other family friendly destinations that inhabit it. With the beautiful weather and plentiful entertainment, it’s easy to see why so many people plan vacations or dream about living here. However, many tourists and even some locals aren’t fully aware of the diverse opportunities to enjoy the delicious food scene in Orlando.
Restaurants beyond Disney
For a long time, the fact that tourists who come to Orlando are often families had a noticeable impact on the food scene. In the past, it might have been hard to find an innovative restaurant with options that go further than chicken nuggets and hamburgers that please the less discriminating palates. It’s a lot different now! The Rusty Spoon is a notable selection to check out, as they’ve been featured in multiple local “Best Of” lists and consistently win awards for their food. The chefs are especially creative with the farm to table cuisine here!
Food Trucks
The recent rise in the popularity of food trucks definitely hasn’t missed the streets of Orlando. One of the best ways to get a good picture of what’s available in the city is to head over to Tasty Takeover on Tuesday evening on Robinson Avenue, behind Milk Bar and Space Bar. With around ten different trucks to choose from, you can imagine the diversity in meal choices. The best part is, you can fill up on local options for under twenty dollars, and the trucks rotate each week. There’s a little something for everybody!
Community Celebrations
There are fantastic events throughout the course of the year that have amazing opportunities to enjoy great food and local entertainment with family and friends. The Downtown Food and Wine Fest held at Lake Eola in late February is a perfect example of this. The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the Walk Disney World Resort spans over a month and a half and features different seminars and demonstrations for those who take the term “foodie” to the next level. It’s worthy to note that park admission is required in order to attend this event, though. A quick search on Google will lead you to the next cultural festival or local get together to sink your teeth into.
Using Orlando Transportation is a great way to consider exploring the food scene. You won’t be limited to one destination with professional transportation along for the ride, and this opens up tons of possibilities for any foodie! It’s easier to safely enjoy alcoholic beverages with a group, and it often works out to be the same cost per person when it’s split up across everybody attending. You’ll be happy that you decided to prepare for your next outing with this type of transportation!
