Another great Yelp event at a great location! I will be the first to admit that for the most part I avoid downtown Orlando. I just don’t like it. The traffic, the parking, the crowds of people – its just not my thing. But for this event I decided to give it a shot. I loved that there was a parking garage right there in the plaza. It made getting back to the car at the end of the evening easier (and safer). I didn’t enjoy the high price tag, but that seems to be par for the course as far as parking goes.
Kasa Orlando was a wonderful space for a very relaxed evening. It is located in the Chase Plaza where Urban flats used to be. Its easy to find and the parking garage there in the plaza is a big plus. They offer a discount on 90 minutes of parking if you dine there, so keep that in mind. The space is very open and bright as all the outside walls are glass. About half the space is the bar area with about 6 flat screen tvs. One of my favorite things was that it was fairly quiet. Even with our large group we were still able to easily talk to each other.
We were able to try 4 of their appetizers/small bites – Huevos Rancheros Deviled Eggs (smoked Spanish paprika chicharones, salsa verde, plantain chips), Crab Cakes a la Kasa (panko crusted, bell peppers, red onion, fennel; frisee salad, hearts of palm, mustard dill sauce), Drunken Kobe Brisket MGB (Mini Gourmet Burgers), and Watermelon White Fish Ceviche (pickled red onion, avocado, cherry tomatoes, yellow bell peppers, cilantro). I loved the watermelon ceviche! It was a perfect summer treat.
The Sparkling Hibiscus Sangria (sparkling wine with Absolut hibiscus vodka, simple syrup, fresh fruit) they had for us to try was…. WOW! It was a bit much for some people, but I did enjoy it. It was REALLY strong though. Andi (our Yelp CM) was not kidding when she said you didn’t need more than one 🙂
All of the staff was amazing and made sure that the food just kept on coming. The manager even stopped by to answer questions that I had about some of the food and went into detail about how some things were cooked. It was pretty great.
Thanks to Yelp, Kasa, and Andi for another great event 🙂
