#AwareWithPink Friday Five

Today I’m participating in the #AwareWithPink Friday Five! AfterShokz and SweatPink have teamed up this month to spread #AwareWithPink throughout the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness. Today’s Friday Five is five things that make me feel aware and empowered!

1. Tunes that inspire!

I don’t usually listen to music when I run, but I do love when there is good music before, during, and after a race. There are so many times that its been an upbeat song I’ve heard on the course that has kept me going. My favorite one you ask? It is hard for me to admit, but it is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. I have no idea what it is about that song that just gets me going again. What song inspires you?

2. Give back!?

I love volunteering and participating in fundraising events. I am all about the Local Love and from a young age I’ve wanted to give back to those in my community. I try to do it as much as I can, whether its participating in a charity race, volunteering at a local food bank, going to a fundraising event, or making a monetary donation. It isn’t hard to give back to your community. Even if you don’t have money to give you can always give of your time.

3. Be a self care advocate!

You HAVE to take care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. One of my favorite ways to take care of both is with Yoga. When I miss my practice and then go back I IMMEDIATELY remember why I do yoga. Its a great way to stretch your mind and body. Most of us have so much going on that we rarely take time to just be. Yoga is a great way to disconnect from the world and enjoy some me time. Just do it ok?

4. Inspiring threads!

When it comes to being inspired, some of my most inspirational pieces are my 73Threads shirts. They make some great shirts that celebrate running, triathlons, and local love. When I travel to races, near or far, I love wearing my 73Threads shirts. I have lost track of how many times people have said “Where did you get that shirt?!”

Their About pages on their website really says it all: “73threads dishes out super comfy t-shirts that let the rest of the world know you are a runner. And why shouldn’t they know, you worked your tater off to cross that finish line. You lost innocent toenails and experienced chafing in your unmentionable parts. So go on and grab one of our awesome shirts and be the envy of all those around you. You, my friend, are a runner!”

5. Friends who inspire!

This is a super long list! I have some many runner, and non-runner, friends that inspire me everyday. I do my best to surround myself with positive people in all aspects of my life. I mean why wouldn’t you?
