Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending Pink Off Park (formerly Pink Bash), an annual community celebration and fundraiser event designed to bring breast cancer awareness to Central Florida in an interactive, uplifting way. Pink Off Park features a survivor fashion show, live music, pink carpet photos, a silent auction, enter-to-win prizes and more — all to support the cause and honor those that are fighting, have been touched or have lost their battle to breast cancer.
Pink Off Park, produced by Orlando Sentinel Media Group, is a FREE event to attend with options to purchase food and drink sampling passports. One hundred percent of the passport proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Care Fund at Florida Hospital Foundation.
Unfortunately the afternoon got off to a wet start which I think impacted the number of people that attended. But for those of us that did attend, it was a great time! After getting checked in and collecting our passports we stopped for a little fun with the GIF picture booth. Apparently we do NOT know how this thing works, but we had fun anyway!
The rest of the evening was spent enjoying tasty bites and drinks, while checking out the silent auction, vendors, and the survivor fashion show. My friend Melissa even walked away with a spiffy new handbag from the silent auction.
Have you had your mammogram yet? One-in-eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. A mammogram is the most effective method for detecting breast cancer early, when it is most treatable and beatable.
Right now Florida Hospital is offering $30 screening mammograms through October 31, 2018. You have no excuse not to go get this done now! (Women do not need a physician’s order for a screening mammogram if you are 40+ years of age, have no breast symptoms and have not had a mammogram in the last year.) Sign up today!
*Disclosure: As an ambassador for Pink Off Park I received two complimentary passports for the event. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
