30 Day Creative Challenge – Photo Magnets

Even though I am doing my best to keep myself busy and distracted I’ve been having a hard time getting and keeping myself motivated. I currently have a laundry list of projects to work on and the time to do them, I just haven’t been able to get myself to so. Crazy huh?

Well last night I was browsing Pinterest trying to get myself motivated when I came across an interesting pin…

Jennie at Little Girl Designs created a challenge where you set aside 20 minutes a day for the next 30 days to work on projects. Any creative project will do. The whole idea is that most people can find 20 minutes to set aside a day to be creative. Add up those 20 minutes over 30 days and that gives you PLENTY of time to start and/or finish a project (or even two).

I’m not quite sure that I’ll be able to motivate myself to do this every single day, but I’m going to try to do it as much as possible AND I’m going to share my projects with you here. Last night I set aside 20 minutes and worked on my first project – photo magnets.

My mom found a stack of business card size adhesive backed magnets when she was cleaning her office (like 2 months ago) and gave them to me because she was sure I could find something to do with them. About a month later she sent me a pin on Pinterest where they took those same magnets and used them to create photo magnets. How simple and cute is that?

So last night I grabbed the magnets and a few pictures I had left over from some other projects and got to work. The magnets are 3.5″x2″ so they don’t give you a lot of room to work with, but thankfully I had some 3″x4″ pictures lying around. The process is simple – find a photo to use, take the adhesive backing off the magnet, put it behind the section of the picture you want as your magnet, and trim off the access photo. Quick and easy!

Of course the first picture I used was one of my sweet woof. Its a silly picture of her and Ozzie from our trip to Miami last summer, but it makes me smile every time I see it so I thought it would be the perfect addition to my fridge. I just love it!

After making the first magnet I started wondering what other fun things I could do with the magnets. I had a picture I liked of my mom and I but it didn’t really fit the size of the magnet. I finally figured out that making the picture square would work out much better. Then I decided that I really sure sure use the business card size magnets for their intended purpose – business cards!

Fun huh? I’m worried that I’m going to end up with a fridge full of personalized magnets. I guess that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. And at least I got in my 20 minutes of creativity!

I’m so glad that you signed up for this challenge, Meghan! I love that you used those magnets to make personalized magnets for your refrigerator. I’ve made those in the past, and it is such a satisfying project. (I like projects I can make and FINISH! 🙂 :)) See you on Instagram! 🙂
