My favorite thing about my upcoming trip for the Wish You Were Here – Florida campaign is that the theme of my trip is “Traveling with Pets.” So I get to bring Pepper! My mom is coming with me and bringing Pepper’s bestie Ozzie along as well. The Residence Inn Miami Airport is a pet friendly hotel. Its suite style so there should be more than enough room for 2 people and 2 pets. Since we are bringing the pups along I’ve been doing a lot of research to find pet friendly parks, attractions, and restaurants to go to while we are in town.
My first searches brought me to two websites dedicated to traveling with pets – Bring Fido and Go Pet Friendly. Both websites give you the ability to search for pet friendly hotels, restaurants, stores, and attractions all over.
Bring Fido offers a world wide search of pet friendly accommodations, attractions, and restaurants, along with pet services. My initial search of Miami brought a good number of options, but not as many as I expected. I did a second search for Miami Beach and got a ton more. So keep that in mind if there are different areas to the city you are visiting.
I loved that I was able to find out information about all the local dog parks as well. Listings include location, contact information, website information (if applicable), maps, photos, and even ratings and reviews.
Go Pet Friendly offers a search of pet friendly accommodations, restaurants, activities, and services in Canada and the US. My search of Miami on Go Pet Friendly included results within 25 miles. This meant that my search included Miami Beach, but also included Fort Lauderdale , Hollywood, and a few other nearby towns. This was both good and bad. I didn’t have to do two separate searches for Miami and Miami Beach, but I did have to weed through results for towns I wasn’t visiting. You are able to change your search to only go out 5 miles so in most cases this is easily remedied. They also have the option to search dogs or cats, so you are able to find out information about your feline companions as well if necessary.
Go Pet Friendly’s listings aren’t quite as detailed, but they have all the basics to get you on your way – location, contact info, website information, and maps.
Both websites were able to provide me with plenty of pet friendly suggestions for while we are in town. I was happy to find a couple of websites that are dedicated to traveling with pets. After spending just a little bit of time on both website my mom and I got really excited about our upcoming trip. Let’s just hope the dogs are as excited as we are 🙂
