As much as I love traveling, I also love when I can just stay home and relax. I happen to live in one of most popular tourist destinations in the country which can be both a blessing and a curse. What does that mean when it comes to summertime plans? It means that we have tons of beautiful resorts and hotels right in our backyard. So why spend hours in the car or on a plane when you can head to a beautiful spot just 45 minutes away?
This summer I will be heading to the Omni ChampionsGate Resort for a 3 day staycation for my birthday. I love the Omni and it is the perfect place to “get away” for a couple of days and celebrate with friends. My bestie is even coming down from Atlanta for the weekend!
The Omni has everything that you could want for a staycation – beautiful rooms, great restaurants, a golf course, adult pool, a great big pool with a slide, and a lazy river. I mean seriously, what else could you ask for? Well, the Omni figured that out and starting Friday they have one more thing to draw you in – a wave pool!
Opening on Friday, the new pool area will feature 23,000 sq. ft. of additional deck space, 400 additional chairs, Orlando’s only resort wave pool, an all new kids pool area with pool slides, and 16 additional cabanas. Talk about a heavenly place to relax and have fun!
If you happen to be looking for a staycation for this weekend, you are in luck. To celebrate the holiday and the new wave pool opening they will have Tunes by the Terrazza, Barbecue Festival, Fireworks Celebration, Dive-in Movie, Poolside DJ, Karaoke and more.
Do I really have to wait until July to check out the new wave pool?! Yup, I do. Just seven more weeks until my birthday staycation!
