Spiked White Chocolate Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Sounds amazing right? Or you may be thinking that it sounds like WAY too much. Well I am here to tell you that this sweet treat is the perfect beverage to enjoy on a cold winter night. And yes, it gets cold in Florida sometimes. We had a few nights this year where a glass of wine just wasn’t going to cut it and that is how I came up with this super easy treat.

This hot chocolate recipe really only has two ingredients – hot chocolate and white chocolate liquor. Easy right? I found the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate k-cups at Aldi after Christmas. Around most holidays they tend to get in some specials flavors of coffee and hot chocolate. The best time to buy these is right AFTER the holiday when they mark them down since they are a limited time offering. I picked up a box of 10 hot chocolate pods for just $2.50 so I figured it was worth a shot.

I know there is a big debate on whether hot chocolate should be made with water or milk. I’m not going to argue with you about which one is right, but in this case water was the winner since I couldn’t really send milk through my Keurig. If you are SUPER against using water, feel free to make your own hot chocolate by hand with milk. I won’t hold it against you.

I used the middle sized setting on the Keurig to make the hot chocolate since I knew I would be adding the liquor to it afterwards. I needed to make sure I had space in the mug for it AND liquor is always better than water.

I mixed one shot of White Chocolate liquor into the mug when it was done and then topped it with a scoop of marshmallow fluff. It was like a drink and dessert all in one. One nice thing about the mini bottle of liquor that I got was that it was enough for two mugs of hot chocolate. I’m sure there are plenty of other types and flavors of alcohol that would work in this, so grabbing a few of the mini bottles is a great way to try them out.
