Do you have a Sole Sister? Your go to running buddy? Your running pal that is there for you through think and thin? Who keeps you motivated for 6.2 or even 13.1 miles when you just aren’t feeling it? Someone who tells you how awesome your butt is when you say not nice things about it? I sure do and I’m very very lucky. Let me explain.
As most runners know, sometimes you just hit a funk with running. It isn’t fun, it isn’t going well, and you just want to give up. Unfortunately I hit that funk months ago and I just can’t seem to shake it. That funk has impacted other aspects of my life as well. I’m not sleeping well, I’ve gained weight, my eating is all out of whack, and I’m truly lacking in motivation. I’m super frustrated about this and its driving me a little batty.
The last two races I did (more on #2 coming soon) didn’t go that great, but they went a lot better than I thought they would. A lot of that was due to my Sole Sister/Cheerleader Jenn who refuses to let me give up. It is a blessing and a curse. Lol. But mostly i’m very thankful for it. I was really hoping that those races would give me the jump start/kick in the pants I needed, but here we are almost 2 weeks later and I’ve only run once.
I randomly messaged Jenn today and said “My fat a$$ needs a training plan or something. And I need to actually stick to it!” It just so happened that she was putting one together for her running group (which I’m not a part of because we live 2 hours from each other, so sad) and would loop me in. The training plan would take me right up to the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon that we are doing together in April. Perfect!
I’m a little scared to see what she has planned for me, but I’m thinking it will be the push I need. I’m officially giving her the power to control me and my running for the next 2.5 months!
So I’m giving myself until that training plan shows up to wallow a little more and complain about my situation, but then it is time to get in gear. I worked too hard to get to where I am to give up now. I sincerely planing on 40 being fabulous, so I need to make sure that everything is in check before I turn 40 in 2019. Bring it on!

*Disclosure: I am an ambassador for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and receive a free entry each year. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. Oh, and I’m completely aware that Jenn isn’t a trainer or coach and isn’t pretending to be one. She’s just my super awesome Sole Sister helping me out 🙂
