So out of the first 10 days of the Runner’s World Run Streak I’ve run run at least a mile a day on 8 of them. One day I ran 2 miles to make up a day that I missed. So that means I really only missed 1 day right? 🙂
I over did it at yoga for runners on Tuesday (tried something I just wasn’t strong enough for) and last night I decided to just take a rest day. My body just needed a day of absolutely nothing. I wanted to head to the gym to run and bike, but sometimes you have to just listen to your body even if the “schedule” says otherwise. So instead I picked up my car from the shop (she looks BEAUTIFUL), spent a little time catching up on TV from last night, and had dinner with a friend. It was just what I needed.
Tonight I’ll be heading to the gym for yoga and then to meet a friend at the park to cover a few miles. Tomorrow morning I’ll be running 6 miles with one of my Team Challenge buddies. Half of our team is in Chicago and will be running the All State 1/2 marathon. It will be fun knowing that we are out running at the same time they are. I am really looking forward to when the rest of us head to Napa Valley next month for our race. I can’t believe it is next month all ready! I think all my exercise over the next two days will more than make up for my “day off” yesterday. Right?
On a related note, National Running Day really got me thinking about a fall/early winter 1/2 marathon. I’m all ready signed up for the Best Damn Race 1/2 marathon on February 1st, but I kinda feel like I want to do a race in between Napa and BDR. There were a couple races that were discounted yesterday but nothing really looked overly appealing and/or fit my schedule. I want to do something semi-local since BDR will include a stay at the fabulous Safety Harbor Resort. I swear they aren’t paying me to say cool stuff about them, we just really love that place.
I’ve been looking at the Space Coast Half Marathon, the Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon, and the OUC Half Marathon – but I just don’t know which one to do. I could stay at my mom’s house for the first two and could stay home for OUC. I haven’t run any of the three races, so that doesn’t really play into it. I just can’t decide!
Anyone have any thoughts? Or suggestions for a different race?
