Sometimes I sign up for a race because it has a cool medal. Sometimes I sign up for a race because of the location. And sometimes I sign up for a race because its for a good cause and they will give you a taco at when you are done. THIS is why I signed up for the Tijuana Flats Just In Queso Taco Dash 4k.
The Tijuana Flats Just In Queso Taco Dash 4k benefited the Tijuana Flats Just In Queso Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from the event helped benefit both the Seminole County Schools Foundation and Orange County Schools Foundation. Your entry fee got you an event t-shirt and a post race taco. Cool right?!
The event took place in Baldwin Park and was just a short 2.5 miles loop around Lake Baldwin. It was the perfect way to start the day, and the weekend. And how could you not be excited about chasing a taco around the lake?
I needed to run on Saturday anyway, so signing up for this event was a no brainer. I love Tijuana Flats, I love the Just in Queso Foundation, I love running, and I LOVE tacos. Put all these things together and you have one happy Meghan!
I took off with the goal of finishing (always a plus) and being able to enjoy my post race taco. The weather was great at the start, but things quickly heated up since the event didn’t start until 9 am. Halfway around the lake I was VERY happy that I’d worn a hat and grabbed some sunglasses at the last might. It was a bright sunshiney Florida day for sure!
I finished in a reasonable amount of time and after grabbing a bottle of water headed straight for the taco line. Yes, I was having a taco at 9:30 in the morning. Tijuana Flats was serving up chicken and black bean tacos, along with chips and salsa. I opted for just the taco, chicken AND black beans, and took a seat in the shade to enjoy my post race snack.
I signed up for this race knowing that I would have run that morning anyway, that it wasn’t timed, and there was no shiny bling at the end. The money went to a great cause and I was rewarded with a tasty taco. What more can you ask for on a Saturday morning?
