New Menu Items Hit Cocina 214’s Menu

Even though I’m a creature of habit, I do love when restaurants add new items to their menu. As long as you keep my favorites I’m always up for a couple of new additions. Last week I got to head to Cocina 214 in Winter Park to check out some of their new menu options.

Cocina 214 is right off Park Avenue in Winter Park but also has a beautiful beach front location in Daytona Beach. Since this event was on a weeknight I decided to head to the Winter Park location, but I must admit that the Daytona location in my favorite. How can you go wrong with Mexican food and margaritas with a view of the ocean?

We started the night out with our choice of new new cocktails – Flex on the Beach and the Cocina Guavarita. I love anything guava, so I decided to try out the Guavarita. It was the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Made with Don Julio Blanco tequila, Conintreau, and Guava it is simple and full of flavor. You can definitely taste the tequila, but not enough to keep you from ordering a second one.

Next up was the Nacho Macho topped with queso, black beans, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce and sour cream. This menu item is gluten free and vegetarian. The nachos are great as they are served, but if you need a little bit more meat to your nachos you can add chorizo or ground beef to them.

Three new entrees have been added to the menu – chicken flautas, chicken fajitas, and veggie fajitas. I decided to go with the chicken flautas because they are one of my favorite dishes. These were guacamole, salsa verde, queso and tomatoes. This was definitely a knife and fork kind of meal!

Some of my table mates ordered both types of fajitas and really enjoyed them. I was really impressed by the veggie fajitas that included a lot of different veggies – and a lot of them at that.

I already liked Cocina 214 and the addition of these new menu items just reinforced that. I’m not a huge spicy food eater, so I love that their menu items aren’t over the top spicy. But don’t worry, if you like the heat they definitely have you covered with things like their habanero salsa. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out, definitely add them to your list. And DEFINITELY check out their Daytona location the next time you are in the east coast. Margaritas by the ocean are my favorite!

*Disclosure: I was treated to a complimentary meal by Cocina 214. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
