Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida began in 1994 with a 13 year old girl’s wish to meet Dolly Parton. Since then, they have granted over 5,500 wishes. The chapter covers 54 counties from Sarasota up to the Panhandle. They have four offices – their main office in Maitland and regional offices in Jacksonville, Tampa and Sarasota. All the money raised stays locally to grant wishes of children in our communities. The average cost of a wish is $8,000. The whole family, including siblings, is a part of the wish, and the entire cost of the wish is completely covered.
This weekend is the Make-A-Wish Wishmaker’s Ball in Orlando. The Annual Hamlin and Associates Wishmaker’s Ball presented by Fields BMW is Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida’s signature black-tie gala and our largest fundraiser. Make-A-Wish is delighted to once again be hosting the event at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Orlando. The evening will include dinner, an exclusive VIP table drawing, silent and live auctions and special appearances by our wish children. The program ends at 10 p.m., but the fun will continue at the After-Party. After dinner, we open up the curtains to reveal the After-Party! The event promises to be a festive evening of fun and fundraising. All money raised stays locally to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
