Light Up Your Home with Color + Plus Lighting by Lamps Plus

Ever since I moved into my home last year (how has it been a year already?!) I’ve had the WORST time finding lamps. I know that sounds trivial, but lamps are a) a necessity and b) can really pull your room together design wise. Since I’m going with Mid-Century Modern decor I wanted to make sure that I had just the right lamps. After close to a year of searching, both new and vintage locations, I was still at a loss. I finally decided I would paint the one lamp I had for the living room and be done with it, but that still left me three more rooms without lamps. What is a girl to do?

Thankfully I was walking through the expo at BlogHer in LA when I saw the most AMAZING Lamps Plus display. I was immediately drawn to the bright orange section of their both that also happened to be full of Mid-Century Mod pieces. SCORE! After a nice chat with one of their folks I learned about their Color + Plus lamp collection. So. Many. Colors.

Featuring more than 150 color options matched to some of today’s most popular designer colors, this collection offers colored glass table lamps and floor lamps for every palette under the sun. Each design is handmade to order and available with a variety of fabric and color coordinating Giclee lamp shades. Simply choose your color, base and shade combination. It is that easy!

Navigating their site is a breeze, but let me tell you that 150+ color options makes picking your perfect lamp a little harder than you might think. There are two ways to use the Color + Plus section of the website. You can either pick your lamp style first (and then your color) or pick your color first (and then your style). Since I was having the worst time deciding what style to go with I picked my color first. After about an hour of “Is that the right color?” and “Will that match the couch?” I decided to go with Reflecting Pool. *Side note: this color also matches Sherwin Williams paint color SW6486.

One thing to keep in mind is that colors on the website look different on different computers. I picked out my color while at my mom’s using her computer, and as I’m working on this post on my computer the colors are showing up very differently. If you are worried about your color choice I suggest looking at it on a couple different computers or, if your color has a matching Sherwin Williams paint color, go pick up the paint chip in that color. Then you can bring it home and see how it looks.

Once you pick your color, it shows you all of the lamp options available in that color. I had fallen in love with the lamp that I saw at BlogHer, but still spent a good amount of time looking through all the options. In the end I went with the lamp that I saw at BlogHer – it just felt like the perfect lamp for the space.

It is THAT easy! I really had NO idea that Lamps Plus had as many amazing options as they do. They even sell home decor, furniture, and wallpaper. I learned that everything in their booth at BlogHer had come from their collections. At least I know where to go the next time I need something for the house and can’t find it in a store!

So how does the lamp look you ask? It looks amazing! I never thought I could be THIS excited about a lamp. Like ever. It looks perfect in the living room with my Mid-Century Modern style couch and it really pulls things together. It was also the push I needed to get things moving with getting the room finished.

And now that I have a beautiful lamp for my living room, I am using the lamp I had (that didn’t match and was a little to small) for a DIY project. The lamp is getting a complete (but easy) makeover and will end up in my guest bedroom. Keep an eye on the blog for that project!

*Disclosure: I received this lamp at no cost from Lamps Plus. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. (You can even ask my mom, I was stupid excited about this lamp!)

Looks great in that space! Now I just need to find myself a floor lamp… thankfully we get everything in black, so there’s not a lot of color debate! ha!
