Dress for Success Greater Orlando is once again bringing together local bakeries to battle it out for bragging rights at its signature event, Cupcake Challenge. How can you go wrong with unlimited cupcakes from the area’s best bakeries?
The nonprofit’s family-friendly event has taken on a fall harvest theme for its eighth year. This year’s challenge will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management Disney Dining Room.
Each year bakeries all over Central Florida bring their best flavors and most unique designs for this sweet competition. A panel of expert foodie and local celebrity judges chose winners in categories like best flavor, most unique presentation and best overall. The crowd, too, can enjoy unlimited samples in order to select the winner of crowd favorite.
This year’s judges include Lauren Delgado, Orlando Sentinel food reporter; Emily Ellyn, Retro Rad chef and competitor on the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”; Faiyaz Kara, Orlando Weekly restaurant critic; Katrina Lee-Jones, president and creative fashion director at StylesByKatrina; Kia Malone, Daily Buzz host; Tiffany Nguyen, senior writer at Tasty Chomps; Christina Thomas, food blogger and creator of Go Epicurista; and Allison Walker Torres, Spectrum News 13 entertainment reporter and IN FOCUS host.
There will also be a silent auction at the event with donations from local sponsors. Herzing University is the title sponsor of the event.
And the icing on the cupcake – it’s all for a good cause. Proceeds benefit Dress for Success Greater Orlando and support its mission of empowering women to reach economic independence by providing professional attire, development tools and a network of support.
General admission to the Cupcake Challenge is $22 for adults, $12 for kids over 12, and free for kids 12 and under. To purchase tickets, visit https://cupcakechallenge18.eventbrite.com/.
