I never thought in my 10+ years of blogging that a pandemic would EVER be a blog post topic…
So right after my last post, the Governor of Florida decided to FINALLY do a stay-at-home order for the entire state through the end of April. About damn time! It really doesn’t change a whole lot for me personally, but hopefully, it will keep some of the idiots that were still out and about at home!
Of course, there are always people that don’t want to follow the rules. When I got up on Sunday I was scrolling through Twitter to see what was going on in the world and came across this post from Seminole County (where I live) announcing that they were now going to close all the boat ramps. Not only did they call out the idiots not following the rules, but they also posted a picture. Way to go Seminole County! Shame on the idiots who ruined it for everyone else.
I’ve been trying to keep busy with work and things around the house. I’ve been cooking and baking some recently. Something I haven’t done in AWHILE. It may have been box brownies, but they were delicious and it was great to have fresh baked brownies in the hours.
I’ve also been reading a LOT since this all started. I’ve read 3 books in the last week and 10 total since the beginning of March. Thank goodness for my mom’s large collection of Kindle books. My local library closed mid-March, so this is the only access to books I have right now. Thanks mom!
A couple of friends have the Peloton bikes and mentioned to me that Peloton was doing three months free of their app. I wasn’t really sure how that would help me since I don’t have a bike, but then I found out that they have outdoor workouts (running & walking), along with things like yoga, strength training, and even some dance. Fun right? I LOVE the outdoor workouts. They range from 20 – 45 minutes and have a super fun playlist and a coach in your ear. Let me tell you how much it helps having someone “in your ear” when you are having to do all of your workouts alone.
I’m a little sad today because it is my niece’s 1st birthday. I was supposed to be flying up to Atlanta on Friday for her birthday and Easter. I know that not going was the right thing (we made this decision before everything got locked down), but it still stinks. I haven’t seen them all in way too long. Thank goodness for Facebook Portal!
So yeah. This is where we are at 5 weeks in. Most days I am okay with being alone. I do good with being alone. One of the benefits of being an only child I guess. I can totally amuse myself. But some days I get lonely. Some days I just want a hug. Or to see a friend in person. Or to just go wander around HomeGoods just because. But instead I stay home like I’m supposed to and hope that one day soon all of this will be over and we will get back to normal life.
