I am a part of a wonderful blogger group here in Orlando called the Central Florida Lady Bloggers. The purpose of the group is to promote each others blog, build relationships, and network. It is truly an amazing group of bloggers. We used to have monthly get-togethers/networking events, but that hasn’t been happening much lately. I had the opportunity to host an event at Splitsville this month and jumped at the chance to plan an event for this awesome group. That one event spawned 3 more and now I’m “officially” in charge of planning the events for our group. I’m super excited!
We had such a blast at this month’s event! Splitsville provided bowling and shoes for our group for two hours. In addition to the fun bowling I put together some awesome goodie bags that included items from various local businesses. Our sponsors included Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen, American Q, Peterbrooke Chocolate, Flippers Pizzeria, House of Blues Orlando, Yelp, and Seadog Brewing.
With over 35 ladies in attendance I wanted to make sure that we all had a chance to get to know some new folks. I used the goodie bags, with attached name tags, as a way to ensure this happened by doing some “assigned bowling.” Everyone was randomly assigned to a lane and was able to get to know some new folks. Most people knew at least one person on their lane, but definitely not all of them. Since I was the hostess (and a bit wound up) I made my way to the other lanes when it wasn’t my turn.
Splitsville is not your average bowling alley. In fact the Orlando location is a two-story, 50,000 square foot venue with multiple bars, an amazing menu, pool tables, music, and even an outdoor bar and sitting area. While I definitely see why its a draw to tourists in its Downtown Disney location, I personally love the place. Its just a fun change of pace and on a Wednesday night it was definitely not overrun with the out of town crowd.
It was so fun seeing everyone bowling, eating, drinking, and making new friends. I think this event was a great way to get everyone excited about the group again! By the end of the night everyone was already talking about when our next event would be and how excited they were. Thankfully I’ve got TWO events on the books for June and I can’t wait to see all these wonderful ladies again.
Wow that’s so awesome! I need to ask you more about this! Looks like so much fun. I was just talking about that bowling alley to the hubby last week, so how funny that you guys actually went there. Looks awesome…and now I need to get my bowling on!
Yes yes, you totally need to join the group Char 🙂
