One perk that Best Damn Race offered (other than super cheap registration prices!) to folks signing up for the Safety Harbor race was FREE digital race photos if you registered by a certain date. I of course registered the very first day and was able to take advantage of this special off. I’ve spent the last week stalking my email waiting for the email from the race photography company telling me my photos were ready. It was the longest week EVER.
For pretty much EVERY race I’ve done my professional race photos have been pretty awful. I either have a funny look on my face, look like I’m in pain, look fat, or just plain awful. The only race I’ve bought pictures from was my very first half marathon. So I was really hoping that since I’d get ALL the pictures from this race that a few would turn out at least okay. I lucked out because I actually knew one of the photographers on the course. So when I saw him I slowed down AND totally hammed it up.
So I was psyched when I woke up yesterday morning and there was an email from the race photographer – my pictures were done!
I got to work and as soon as I could I sat down and pulled up the email. I clicked on the link and was happy to see THIRTY ONE pictures of myself! WOO HOO! And honestly, I love pretty much ALL of them. I think there is maybe one that I could take or leave. I spent about 10 minutes going through the pictures over and over before finally downloading them. Within minutes the pictures were up on Facebook and Instagram. I was one happy Meghan.
Having great pictures from such a great race, where I PR’d, was just the icing on the cake as far as this race was concerned. I will tell anyone that is willing to listen (or read) that BDR really is the BEST damn race. I am so excited for Best Damn Race Orlando and the opportunity to do this all over again.
