GIVEAWAY: Helping You Be the Best YOU Past Your New Year’s Resolutions

The start of the new year can be both a wonderful and horrible time. It is always nice to start a fresh new year, especially if the previous year was a bit of a bummer, and hopefully get it off to the right start. Whether you are looking to further your career, eat better, or start/improve your fitness routine, this seems to be the time that everyone focuses on this.

But I have to admit, I HATE New Year’s Resolutions. Did you know that only 8 percent of people actually keep their resolutions, folding around February? Yup. I wholeheartedly believe that the beginning of the year is a good time to move forward with your goals, but that is what they should be – GOALS. Resolutions tend to make people feel like they have to get things done in a certain time frame and make them feel like a loser when they don’t. We don’t want any loser feelings around here!

So this year I’m encouraging everyone to join me in creating a list, even if it just includes one or two things, of ATTAINABLE goals for 2017. Make yourself a list of things you would like to accomplish in 2017. Do you want to lose weight? Then put “lose weight” on your list, not “lose 55 pounds.” Do you want to run more? Then put “run more” on your list, not “run 2017 miles in 2017.” While I do love goals with a specific result in mind, that should be secondary. The MAIN part of any goal is to get started towards attaining it and STICKING WITH IT.

So what are my attainable goals for 2017?

  • Run More!
  • Cross Train (I am SO bad at this)
  • Get my healthy eating back on track

See? Totally attainable goals for 2017 with not specific limitations or end points. I wanna run more, cross training more, and eat better – end of story.

This year, Youfit Health Clubs is encouraging everyone to get started whenever they are ready. Whether it is at the New Year or a few months into 2017, you can start at your own time at your own pace.  YouFit is totally on board with my idea of attainable GOALS for 2017!

To help with the first two goals I’m going to be taking full advantage of my Lime Membership at YouFit Health Clubs. I’ve been a member for almost two years now, but this year I’ve moved up to the Lime membership to give myself some more freedom and options when it comes to attaining my goals. With my Lime membership I get unlimited access to all Youfit locations, access to standard Group Exercise classes and Cycle, unlimited guest privileges, YouCoach Fitness Assessment, and so much more. The first two benefits are the most important to me. These two mean that I can go to any YouFit location AND take classes! This helps with more running (I can run inside anywhere there is a YouFit) and cross training (hooray classes). The YouFit closest to work, which is the easiest to get to, doesn’t have classes so my new Lime membership means I can take advantage of the other area locations that DO have classes.
