The Comeback Tour: Week 1 Training Update

I survived week 1 of training!

As I mentioned last week I now have a running coach to help me get back on track. She is one of my closest friends and I have complete faith that she will help me through this “comeback tour” of mine. So how did week one go? Slowly.

The Comeback Tour: Week 1 Training Update

This week was just about getting back to it. 60 seconds running, 60 seconds walking. Nothing overly ambitious, but I was still happy when I made it through all the repeats. My weekday runs I did at the gym on the treadmill. Not my favorite way to run but with the crazy heat in Florida right now this was the only way it was going to happen.

I was happy to see that I could speed things up a little bit on day two and get a little bit further on my run. I am by no means a speedy runner (and I don’t expect to ever be), but any improvement is a plus in my book. Forward is a pace right?

The Comeback Tour: Week 1 Training Update

On Sunday I decided to change things up and go outside for my “long” run. Since I didn’t have to go to work I was able to set an early alarm and make it out for my run without having to worry about following it up with a full work day. I am NOT a morning runner, especially if I have to go to work afterwards. I give it to all the ladies that set there alarms for 4:30 am (I’m looking at you Jenn) so that they can hit the road for a few miles and still get back in time to get their family ready for the day ahead. If I tried that I would be asleep at my desk by lunch time.

Thankfully even though it was 81 degrees at 7 am when I left for my run, I still had a great run. I was soaked through by the time I was done but I was feeling great. I even had my fastest mile in a REALLY long time! I’m really glad that I decided to get up early and run outside today – apparently it makes me a bit faster!

The Comeback Tour: Week 1 Training Update

This upcoming week I’ve got the same training schedule as last week which makes things easy. Unfortunately, I’ve got some extracurricular activities on the schedule that are going to mess with my running schedule a bit. I’ll have to run on days that I didn’t plan to or after getting home from events, but no one said this was going to be easy right?
